Abstract
In this paper, a 16-GHz FinFET differential Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) is presented. Filtering is used at the common source node of the cross-coupled transistors as well as other techniques to effectively lower phase noise. The oscillator is designed using 16nm FinFET Predictive Technology Models (PTMs) [1], achieves -106.553dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset, and dissipates 1.071mA from a 0.85V supply. © 2015 IEEE.
