Abstract
This work describes a research collaboration between universities and industry with the aim to provide a low-cost prototype based on Augmented Reality technologies, that assists with maintaining correct information in Warehouse Management Systems. The component interacts with the central server of an existing commercial WMS to provide up-to-date information on the actual state of the warehouse. The low-cost requirement restricts the solution to smartphones and other inexpensive equipment readily available, such as drones, as well as mostly Open Source Software. This requirement also introduces several interesting architectural issues that we discuss in this work. A prototype was built for the proposed architecture and several tests were carried out. © 2021 ACM.
