An integrated urban water management scheme: From source to tap
Resumen
Urban water systems have great potential in water and energy saving. A thorough water losses component assessment can reveal this potential and drive utilities into a proper water management scheme towards a more sustainable use of resources. The core of such an analysis would involve ICTs -establishing a continuous and real-Time or near real-Time monitoring history- and spatiotemporal simulation of all relative critical variables within the water distribution network. In this work, we introduce an integrated Decision Support System, which aims to reduce excessive pressure in the network, reducing water and energy waste, respectively to the real spatio-Temporal water demand. The DSS integrates all physical features such as the network and the water meters, as well as forecasting and modeling algorithms, providing for optimum decision regarding the operation of the whole system. The DSS offers a series of KPI estimates, regarding the impact of pressure control management on leakage and pressure driven household water consumption, among others. © 2018 1st International WDSA / CCWI 2018 Joint Conference. Urban water demand assessment for sustainable water resources management, under climate change and socioeconomic changes
Alamanos A., Sfyris S., Fafoutis C., Mylopoulos N. (2020)The relationship between water abstraction and water availability has turned into a major stress factor in the urban exploitation of water resources. The situation is expected to be sharpened in the future due to the ... -
Water resources vulnerability assessment in the Adriatic Sea region: the case of Corfu Island
Kanakoudis V., Tsitsifli S., Papadopoulou A., Cencur Curk B., Karleusa B. (2017)Cross-border water resources management and protection is a complicated task to achieve, lacking a common methodological framework. Especially in the Adriatic region, water used for drinking water supply purposes pass from ...
