This paper presents the Strategic Noise Mapping & Action Plans for the agglomeration of "Piraeus" (implementation of 2002/49/EC Directive). The studied area is complicated, covers 6 municipalities: Piraeus, Chaidari, Ag. Varvara, Aegaleo, Korydallos, Nikaia-Ag. Ioannis Rentis (size 64.6km2, 475.956 inhabitants). Main noise sources were (a) train, tram, metro, (b) the major passenger port of Greece, (c) road network (free arterials, etc.), (d) industrial & logistic activities of small annoyance located in areas with mixed uses and medium-high annoyance located in industrial zones. A complex geographical model was created using DTM & DSM data, VLSO digital orthophoto maps, city plans, etc. Technical features of noise sources were inserted in detail. All data were inserted to a G.I.S database, georeferenced, corrected & integrated. A survey of 55 noise measurements (24hour) was performed and simultaneously 200 traffic measurements (limited duration) were used for traffic characteristics estimation. The geographical model was calibrated using the simultaneous real time traffic and noise data. Noise sources emissions were derived from noise software database (Predictor-Lima v10.1), SourcedB, IMAGINE data base and of 39 noise measurements (limited duration) when there were limited available data (vessels, trains, industries). Annual data for road traffic were derived using a valid traffic model for the major road network of greater area, which was updated, expanded and integrated. Vessel & rail data were collected from relative operators. Noise maps were presented per noise source. Population exposure and DALYs indicators were calculated per source. Action Plans include measures for schools, identification & proposition of quiet areas (urban & green areas out of city), noise barriers, traffic management, proposition of routes for pedestrian & bicycles which could attract short and medium length movements (reduce use of vehicles), development of a traffic calming and pedestrian road network. Social survey data were collected and were incorporated. All data were coded per noise source and municipality.
