Economic growth, efficiency and environmental elasticity for the G7 countries
Επιτομή
In this study the non-parametric method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is applied to determine the technical efficiency (TE) index of the G7 countries, when variable returns to scale (VRS) hold for the entire period under consideration (1993–2016). As inputs labor and capital are used while we utilize GDP as output. In the second stage of our analysis the DEA bootstrap approach along the lines of Simar and Wilson (2007) is applied to deal with the disadvantages of a non-parametric DEA set up. Through this procedure we investigate the relationship between the efficiency evaluation of DMUs as calculated by the DEA method, in the first stage of our analysis, and the variables of arable land, total greenhouse gas emissions and total primary energy consumption. In addition, for these variables and through the estimated regression coefficients, elasticities and marginal effects of both TE and GDP index are calculated. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

Cordero J.M., Díaz-Caro C., Pedraja-Chaparro F., Tzeremes N.G. (2021)This paper analyzes the evolution of the technical efficiency of Spanish regional tax offices with respect to the main devolved taxes for the period 2005–2014. We apply the conditional directional distance function ... -
Dynamics of productivity taking into consideration the impact of energy consumption and environmental degradation
Bampatsou C., Halkos G. (2018)This study deals with the nonparametric frontier analysis in the case of the EU 28 countries for a period spanning from 1993 to 2015. It provides statistical inference about the radial output based measure of technical ... -
The impact of economic growth on environmental efficiency of the electricity sector: A hybrid window DEA methodology for the USA
Halkos G.E., Polemis M.L. (2018)This paper estimates the efficiency of the power generation sector in the USA by using Window Data Envelopment Analysis (W-DEA). We integrate radial and non-radial efficiency measurements in DEA using the hybrid measure ...
