Resumen
Rising fuel prices, as well as worries about the environmental effects of greenhouse gas emissions, have sparked fresh interest in the generation of electrical energy from renewable sources, including wind power. The aim of the present work is the transient stability analysis and the calculation of Critical Clearing Time with or without the integration of Renewable Energy Sources and the determination of the characteristics of protections required by the power system with respect to the appropriate adjustment of protection breakers. The behaviour, in terms of transient stability, of the IEEE 9-bus electrical power system is investigated in this work. This paper evaluates the electrical grid's ability to sustain transient stability when three-phase solid short circuits occur, as well as the Critical Clearing Time whether wind turbines are present or not. Finally, the findings of the preceding study are summarized, and the benefits of integrating wind turbines into conventional power systems are assessed. © 2021 IEEE.
