Potato is asexually propagated via tubers of small size, also known as tuber seeds. The use of high quality seeds is essential for high yields and high quality of the final product with special attention to the hygiene of propagating material that helps to avoid infections and losses of tubers during cultivation or after harvest. The application of tissue culture or in vitro propagation is a well-established technique widely used in potato crop with several advantages compared to conventional propagation methods, such the easier production of healthy plants and the faster production of large numbers of plants identical to the mother plant (clones) in less time, to name a few. Moreover, this technique is easy to facilitate in breeding programmes with very successful results in the production of elite genotypes with special characters. This chapter will present the use of tissue culture technique in potato plants and the specific requirements. © 2021 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.en
