Direct numerical simulation of dynamo transition for nonhelical MHD

Résumé
Pseudospectral Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) has been performed to simulate dynamo transition for nonhelical magnetohydrodynamics turbulence. The numerical results are compared with a recent low-dimensional model [Verma et al. [13]]. The forcing in DNS is the same as that used in the low-dimensional model. Dynamo transition is observed in DNS, but the forcing required for the transition is higher than that for the model. A qualitative similarity is observed between DNS and model results. The difference is due to the presence of large number of modes present in the DNS. © 2010 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Coupled numerical simulation of low-cycle fatigue damage in metal components
Chatziioannou K., Karamanos S.A., Huang Y. (2021)A coupled cyclic plasticity-damage model is implemented for simulating low-cycle fatigue in metal components. Constitutive relations account for J2-flow theory with nonlinear kinematic/isotropic hardening, coupled with ... -
Finite element analysis of damage in pipeline bends
Swart, A. E.; Karamanos, S. A.; Scarpas, A.; Blaauwendraad, J. (2010)The present paper describes a numerical formulation for the analysis of damage in steel pipeline bends. In particular, the numerical implementation of Gurson plasticity model is described in the framework of a special ... -
Experimental and numerical study of the behaviour of high dissipation metallic devices for the strengthening of existing structures
Karalis, A. A.; Georgiadi-Stefanidi, K. A.; Salonikios, T. N.; Stylianidis, K. C.; Mistakidis, E. S. (2011)The use of steel bracing systems for the strengthening of existing reinforced concrete (RC) frames may lead to increase of both strength and stiffness. However, in most of the cases the main target is the increase of the ...
