Spatial and environmental planning and waste management (some thoughts on the case of Attica)

Abstract

An effort to solve the problem of waste disposal by spatial and environmental planning and waste management in Attica is discussed. The general uncertainty that characterizes the selected sites of disposal of Attica's waste includes the compatibility with the environmental requirements planning of land-use and the non-strict coping with waste management within the borders of the standard administrative divisions. It is observed that the waste management legislation provides measures which is a measures of elimination and suitability. It is suggested to have a mutual planning combined with legislation of a metropolitan self administration for the municipality of Attica.
