Le dialogue interieur dans les hymnes de Remain le Melode.—
Comment le poete byzantin a utilise dans l’hymne le monologue et le
dialogue, tel est le probleme litteraire etudie. L’auteur definit d’abord
le proeede du dialogue interieur, qui se distingue du monologue, en ce
qu’il repond interieurement a un interlocuteur. Par ce proeede, le poete
exprime les sentiments ou les reflexions anterieurs a la parole et dramatise
la vie interieure des personnages. Comme exemples typiques de
ce dialogue interieur, citons : a) Phymne pour l’Annonciation, ou la
Vierge, selon le schema des homelies anciennes, discute interieurement
avec 1’Ange avant de lui repondre; b) l’hymne pour la Nativitd de S.
Jean Baptiste (faussement attribue a Dometios); c) l’hymne pour le
Sacrifice d’Abraham, ou le personnage de Sarah et ses paroles interviennent
dans la seule conscience du patriarche. Ce proeede, emprunte
par Romain a la rhetorique chretienne et utilise avec un art superieur,
est un des plus caracteristiques de sa poesie.
2 ) Hymne inedit de Romain le M6lode ά S. Jean Chrysostome (communication
prevue pour le Xe Congres International d’Etudes Byzantines
a Constantinople, 1955). A propos de cet hymne inedit, sont
enumerees et analysees les productions des autres hymnographes concernant
le meme saint.
3) La connaissance des Peres chez Romain le Melode (communication
envoyee au He Congres International d’Etudes Patristiques a
Oxford, 1955). Apres avoir admis, a propos de S. Ephrem le Syrien,
que Romain est sous l’influence de la poesie hebrai'que plutot que de
la poesie syrienne, l’auteur dresse la liste des autres Peres grecs qui
ont exerce quelque influence sur le grand hymnographe.
