In the present paper, the distribution of ground impulses in diaphragm retaining walls is investigated. The research focuses on ground support methods, based on the limit equilibrium method and is implemented in accordance with the provisions of Eurocode EN 1997-1. Specifically, the distribution of earth pressure on a self-supporting support barrier (cantilever type) is investigated. The aim of the study is to determine the distribution of soil pressures in relation to soil properties (c, φ and E), based on which the main design parameters of these layouts are determined. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
