The authors consider a point-to-point optical wireless communication link with on-off keying (OOK) modulation scheme. The propagation is deteriorated by the joint effects of gamma-gamma atmospheric turbulence and misalignment induced fading described by a non-zero boresight pointing error model. Mathematical expressions are derived for the average block error rate and their accuracy is verified through numerical simulations with Monte Carlo method. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2018.
