Résumé
Introduction : Despite advances in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques breast cancer is still associated with significant morbidity and mortality. CTCs play a crucial role in the metastatic process, which is the main cause of death in BC patients. Areas covered : This review discusses the prognostic and predictive value of CTCs and their prospective in management of BC patients. Expert opinion : The analysis of CTCs through improved technologies offers a new insight into the metastatic cascade. Assessment of the number and molecular profile of CTCs holds great promises for disease monitoring and therapeutic decisions. However, more research is needed until they can be used in therapeutic decisions in clinical practice. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells in prostate cancer: Present knowledge and future perspectives
Koinis F., Xagara A., Chantzara E., Leontopoulou V., Aidarinis C., Kotsakis A. (2022)Several lines of research are being investigated to better understand mechanisms implicated in response or resistance to immune checkpoint blockade in prostate cancer (PCa). Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) have ... -
Alterations of microRNAs in solid cancers and their prognostic value
Chira, P.; Vareli, K.; Sainis, I.; Papandreou, C.; Briasoulis, E. (2010)MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are evolutionarily conserved, naturally abundant, small, regulatory non-coding RNAs that inhibit gene expression at the post-transcriptional level in a sequence-specific manner. Each miRNA represses the ... -
Exploring the potential of mucin 13 (MUC13) as a biomarker for carcinomas and other diseases
Filippou P.S., Ren A.H., Korbakis D., Dimitrakopoulos L., Soosaipillai A., Barak V., Frenkel S., Pe'Er J., Lotem M., Merims S., Molina R., Blasutig I., Bogdanos D.P., Diamandis E.P. (2018)Mucin 13 (MUC13) is a cell surface glycoprotein aberrantly expressed in a variety of epithelial carcinomas. Thus far, the role of MUC13 in various diseases remains elusive. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first ...
