dc.description.abstract | In this chapter a study on dielectrics is made. More specifically, the electric dipole in homogeneous and inhomogeneous electric fields is studied as well as polar and non-polar molecules. The four types of polarization of dielectric materials, namely electronic, atomic, bipolar and interfacial polarization, are also analyzed. This is followed by a review of dielectric permittivity and its dependence on frequency, temperature, pressure and humidity. Subsequently a capacitor with parallel plates as well as RC circuits in series and in parallel is studied. Finally, the equations of the relaxation model of Debye, Cole-Cole, Cole-Davidson and Havriliak-Negami are presented. © 2022 Nova Science Publishers, Inc. | en |
