Ceramic coatings produced by thermal spray techniques are widely used to improve wear and corrosion resistance of working metal surfaces. In the present paper we report on the surface integrity states and the tribological behaviour of plasma-sprayed alumina coatings on steel and aluminum substrates. The influence of arc current employed during the spraying processes on the two previous mentioned aspects is also examined.en
