Abstract
We consider the downlink of a wireless system, where a base station transmits to users with an antenna array. We introduce scheduling algorithms that employ randomization to achieve maximum throughput, at low computational complexity. The algorithms operate in conjunction with either one of two physical layer techniques, namely transmit beamforming and Costa pre-coding. Simulation results show that the proposed randomized scheduling with Costa pre-coding algorithms carry the superior performance of Costa pre-coding at the physical, over to throughput benefits at higher layers.
