D’apres les renseignements historiques fournis par les sources
ecrites et relatifs a la fondation, Involution et la decadence de la forteresse
et de la ville byzantine de Muchli, on voit clairement, que cette ville etait une de plus importantes de Peloponnese auxXIV-XV siecles
soit par son etendue territoriale et le nombre des ses habitants soit par
son role historique, qu’elle a joue pendant les peripeties de ces siecles.
Muchli etait fondee par les Byzantins a la fin de XIII siecle en vue
de proteger les nouveaux domaines byzantins du sud-est de Peloponnese
contre tous les ennemis du nord et nord-est et surtout pour
separer les Francs de l’Est et de l’Ouest de Peloponese, c’est-a-dire
empecher leur union au coeur de l’Arcadie. La reprise de la Peloponnese
par les Byzantins demontre que Muchli avait rempli sa mission
historique parfaitemeut. Une investigation des mines importantes de
cette ville peut eclaircir mieux les dates assez incompletes des
sources historiques et c’est pourquoi l’auteur publie les photographies
et les croquis, qu’il avait fait pendant deux visites dans les
champs des mines, en les accompagnant d’une courte description
des eglises, cisternes, maisons, tours, murailles et des autres batiments
deja en mines qui se trouvent entre les vastes rochers du
Muchli ancien.
