Il s’agit d’un voile liturgique conserve au Musee de St Marc et
portant une epigramme en langue grecque. De voile brode d’or figure
les deux archanges Michel et Gabriel. I/auteur de cet article essaie
d’identifier la personne du donateur citee par /inscription: ce serait
Constantin Comnene-Ange, fils du despote d’Epire Michel Ier, personnage
obscur dans l’histoire du despotat. Une piece d’archives semble
confirmer cette hypothese et apporte quelques precisions sur la datation
du voile (1210-1230). L’etoffe revet une importance toute particuliere
par le fait qu’elle constitue le premier exemple d’«endyte» au
dessus d’autel byzantin, parvenu jusqu’a nous, cette espece de voile
nous etant connue jusqu’ici uniquement par les textes.
